Description:
We all regularly provide and receive a variety of feedback—in verbal conversations, in social media and other places online, in our classes, in our jobs, and even in conversations with friends. But, knowing how and when to give and receive feedback constructively and appropriately can be difficult. This student success dialogue is designed to address that difficulty by encouraging participants to identify their strengths and areas for growth in terms of giving and receiving professional feedback, foster positive feedback loops with others (employees, students, coworkers), and consider the strong upside to giving productive, constructive feedback—and receiving it as well.

April's Lemonis Center Campus Partner Spotlight will feature the Burke Scholars Program and the Urban Scholars Program. Burke Scholars has a 30-year history at Marquette, and Urban Scholars turns 20 this year, and both are part of the Community Engagement and Social Responsibility (CESR) pillar within the Division of Belonging and Student Affairs. Presenters will focus on the context (past), scholars’ trends and wins (present), and where both programs may be headed in the next academic year and beyond (possibility). This session will provide insight into two of MU’s mission-aligned anchor programs and how each incorporates excellence, leadership, and service. The session will conclude with a Q&A portion.

The Marquette community is invited to participate in the 2026 Douglass Day Transcribe-A-Thon. Marquette will join institutions across the country in transcribing historical correspondence, articles, and other documents related to the Colored Conventions — a decades-long, nationwide Black organizing campaign in the 19th century that helped lay the groundwork for the Civil Rights era.
No special skills are required to participate. Attendees will use the official transcription platform to select a historical document, view its scanned image, and type the text as it appears. The work makes these materials searchable online while offering participants an opportunity to engage with and learn from Black history.
The event is hosted by Raynor Library, the Ott Memorial Writing Lab, and the Lemonis Center for Student Success.
